Photographic-Tour Dallol, Vulcano Erta Ale and the Saltlake Asala

The landscape of the Danakil Desert in the northernmost part of The Rift Valley will
be incomparable. The Danakil lies 119 metres below sea-level and is amongst the hottest
places on earth. That is why we visit the area in winter time.
At other times temperatures above 55o C are not unusual! We will be rewarded with a landscape without equal: the
Dallol will thrill us all!
Also the rest of the Danakil region with the huge salt lake and camel caravans is very photogenic!

We will climb the Ert'Ale Volcano and experience the imposing molten seething magma in one of only three volcanic magma 'lakes' in the world. The colours of the glowing lava will be a beauty for the eye to behold and to photograph.

Some Highlights of the Tour  are
- The volcanic lake of  Ert'Ale Volcano
- The Danakil Desert and The Rift Valley
- Salt lakes in Danakil and Camel caravans
- long camel caravans in the desert Danakil

Degree of Difficulty of theTrip
Our viewpoints and photographic spots are easily accessible.
A few spots that we visit are at 2300 metres above sea level.
No special training is needed except perhaps to ascend the Ert'Ale.
We need 4-4,5 hrs for the ascent which we do at night because it is cooler then..
We spend the night at the peak.
He who wishes to, can linger at the crater rim.
The descent also takes 3 to 4 hrs.
We recommend hiking shoes with a good tread on the sole. The Lava has sharp edges !

Vaccinations & Malaria prophylaxis
Highly recommended:
Combined Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio vaccine
Hepatitis
Yellow fever
Malaria prophylaxis with Malarone

During our travel times there should only be a few or no mosquitoes around...

Good Vehicles
Because the single photographic sites are sometimes very far apart with long distances to travel between them, we
are of the opinion that there should only be
 3 guests per vehicle
You will therefore have the greatest possible comfort
The vehicles are 5-door Landcruisers in good condition and have forward facing seats!
On other Ethiopian tours there are usually 4-5 guests in a Landcruiser.....with us there are only 3!
The roads in the south are rough and dusty.

An unforgettable Photographic tour is offered with the unimaginable North-East Africa themes.

The trip is in the form of an expedition !
